Ballast Finder

Privacy Policy

Effective date: September 11, 2026

Summary

Ballast Finder does not collect, transmit, sell, or share personal data. The app has no accounts, advertising, analytics, tracking, or backend service.

App Store version 1.0 contains the ballast and density tools. Saved Gear is being tested for version 1.1 and later; the disclosures below explain how that optional feature handles information when it is present in the installed app.

How the app works

All ballast and seawater-density calculations are performed locally on the user's device. In versions that include Saved Gear, the app can store an object name, neutral conditions, dry weight, optional notes, and up to three selected photos locally in the app's private storage on your device. This information is not sent to the developer or any external service.

Choosing gear photos opens the operating system's photo picker. Ballast Finder receives only the photos you select, resizes local copies, and does not access your camera, location, contacts, microphone, or the rest of your photo library. Deleting a gear profile removes its local data and photo copies from the app. Removing the app also removes its locally stored profiles.

Support and privacy links open public web pages in the device's browser. Using those links is optional and is not required for the app's calculations.
